My Etsy Shop and a Giveaway!

So, as you can tell, my posting has slowed waaaay down the past few weeks. There are a lot of things I haven't been doing (ahem - menu planning), yet there is a whole load of new things I have been doing. But that is a whole different post for a different day.

I'm going to share just one of those things with you today. Recently I've been sharpening my photoshop skills and creating. Oh how fun it is to create in photoshop! I have been thinking about doing this for a long time, but couldn't use the digital scrapbooking supplies that I currently owned because they were for personal use only. THEN I found a website that offered some commercial licenses on templates (which means I still do a lot of creating)... which means I can create, and then sell what I create!

Have you ever heard of Etsy? It is a "venue" for women who create, to SELL! I recently discovered this when I purchased one of these for my wall (oh, I love it!). My brain started ticking and this little creative itch appeared. And before I knew it I was creating photo cards!
So I have two places for you to check out. My *Simply Happy Designs* blog, and my Etsy Shop! Please let me know what you think! The whole idea is that I do the designing, and you do the printing! I'm really excited about it.

Now, don't laugh at me... you're thinking to yourself "What is she thinking - she can't even cook dinner for her family, certainly she doesn't have time for this!". I know, I know... but I'm working on balancing it all out. Just wait until you hear about the other things I've recently become passionate about (again - a whole different post).

So, I did mention GIVEAWAY in my post title. Let me tell you what that is all about... You see, I need samples to post on my blog and shop. Don't get me wrong, I really think my kidlets are cute, and I've got some great Christmas shots of them, but I don't want to freak people out with ALL the pictures of my kids! So I need some OTHER photos to work with.

Here's the deal: I'm giving away three brand spankin new, fresh from my noggin, fully customized photo cards! This is kind of a you help me, I'll help you thing going on here.

YOU HAVE 3 Chances to win!

  1. Leave a comment on this blog telling me your favorite thing about Christmas
  2. Go check out my Simply Happy Designs Blog and leave a comment on your favorite photo card (don't worry - I will be making something completely new for you!)
  3. Post on your blog about my giveaway and link back to my Simply Happy Designs Blog so your friends can share in the fun! Be sure to leave a separate comment with a link to your post so I know you did it!
The contest will end at 9:00 pm MST on Sunday October 12th. At that point I will draw the names of three lucky winners!

Winners will email me a past photo of your family or kids (unless you already have one ready for this year - gee you're on the ball!). I will use this photo while creating your custom Christmas Photo Card. You will let me post this card (using the family picture you provide) on my blog and Etsy shop. Later on, when you have a current photo that you want for THIS YEARS Christmas Card, you can email it to me and I'll swap out the old photo for the new.

So who's up for it?

13 peeps sharin the love!:

I don't usually do these but as your friend, I will be the first to give it a try. I hope it all works out for you. I have been thinking about starting a shop on esty. I also sell vinyl like the one you bought.

Anyways, my favorite thing about Christmas is celebrating the birth of Christ and my son Noah.

Hey Cathy,

Way to go girlfriend! Honestly, I can't wait to hear what else you've been up to! I'm still trying to remove paint from our old bathroom. You'd think changing color wouldn't be a big deal--but it's turned into an adventure! I'll post pictures later.

Congrats on your Etsy shop and everything you are undertaking. And good luck with balancing it all. (pssst.. when you figure out the secret, pass it along this way!)

I love all the music, lights, foods, and cheer of the Christmas season. This year we are doing something different with our family to get the focus back on our Savior and away from toys. I'm excited to see how our holidays are different.

My favorite part of Christmas is the music. And 2 years ago my favorite thing about Christmas was that Elese and I were home from the hospital in time to celebrate.

Hi! I saw your link on Monica's blog and the timing was perfect. I had just hoped over from Shutterfly and was exasperated because all of their cards this year stink! Then I saw your link. I absolutely want you to design our Christmas card! I'll go leave a comment by my favorite design.

Oh, also my favorite thing about Christmas is that it brings families together and puts (most)people in a cheery, festive, giving mood. I look forward to it every year!!

Anyhooth, my fave things about Christmas- the many family memories that flood back to me, the smell of cinnamon and pine, getting out the decorations, stepping back to look at the tree all lit up, the anticipation.

Anyways I love Christmas now being a mom more than I have ever loved it before for the small fact of seeing the excitement on my kids face on Christmas morning, seeing Christmas lights, making snowmen..everything is so much happier when you have kids!!
