I'm still alive, and have so much to say about this past weekend! Just a very quick synopsis, I stepped into this Friday morning...(That is water coming up from under the laminate floor, in those non stuck seams that I've had for quite awhile!)
Things haven't been the same since.
That, turned into THIS:
Yes, two owners ago (know them, and I truly do love them) put the laminate flooring on top of the existing carpet. The water traveled about 12 or so feet from the (unknown) leak in the refrigerator waterline.Look at that lovely green vinyl - under that ugly grey carpet. That lovely green vinyl saved our floorboards!
So now we are trying to live in a house with a kitchen that is all tarped off with two big fans and a dehumidifier running 24-7 (since Friday night). I've got pictures to show and stories to tell, but in the end I am grateful for this big fat mess (eek!). Do you recall how I hated my kitchen floor? At least I can say goodbye to it now (hopefully not at the sake of my sanity)!
Anywho... too much to do at the moment. I DO have a long list of gratitude's for this entire mess. Clues: weather, money, Dave Ramsey :) More to come, hopefully by Wednesday evening!
6 peeps sharin the love!:
at least you get new floors, so sorry for the inconvience, that really stinks! have you decided what kind of floors you are putting down?
Oh Cathy that is no good. Funny how that vinyl turned out to be a blessing. What are you going to choose for flooring now?
Oh, I see now how it is done. I learn so much on your blog!:
Don't like your floors? Simply create a secret leak in the fridge waterline. A big mess and inconvenience later, AND, "Oh Bummer! Now I have to get new floors." Well done. Hehe! Seriously though, I enjoy your blog so much. It is obvious that you recognize the imortant things in life and savor every moment with those important things, while you still have them at home. You seem to make the most of each situation and are not afraid to let us all into your everyday moments. You understand that those everyday moments are the truly great moments. It helps me to better appreciate the truly great moments and important people in my life. Eight of those important people I get to keep up with quite well, thanks to your blog. I wish I had time to explore all the wonderful sites that you introduce and I can't imagine when you have time to do so among everything else that you have coming at you constantly. Good luck enduring the floor saga. I am sure you will let us all know the ending and we will get to see the beautiful new floors that you ultimately end up with.
If you want to get rid of some chillens for a weekend let us know! Maybe it could help relieve some stress.
Oh, what a headache! I'm glad you'll be able to get the floor you've always wanted now though. I wish we were there to help!
