Why oh why am I posting! I sat at my computer tonight to menu plan and plan out my shopping trip for tomorrow morning. I made the mistake of opening my reader, which was WAY TOO FULL! Anyway, long story short, here I am 2 hours later.
I just had to send you over to my frugal blog (by the way, I have two other frugal minded mommas helping me with it - thank you Monica and Kearna!!!). I posted my thoughts on having an emergency fund. Gee, an emergency fund you ask? I'm sure you can recall a certain little emergency I had to deal with a month ago!
Also - two other little cute things I need to write down before I forget them.
Early, and I mean very early, Saturday morning, we had our appointment for Tithing Settlement with our Bishop (thanks for signing us up for the early time hon). 8:15 - me, Roman, and our six kidlets... all dressed in Sunday clothes (hey - IMO, the Bishop is representing the Lord... we show him respect when we were our nice clothes). Anyway, I was inspired to call my daddy-o and have him come over and stay with Logan and Seth (my two youngest). THANK YOU DADDY! Heavens knows we can't make it to 9:00 church on time, I had NO IDEA how I was going to pull off 8:15 Tithing Settlement! We made it - 3 minutes late - with only 4 kids in tow. As we sat in the Bishops office, he chatted with the kids, and then got onto the subject of what Tithing is. He told the little ones how if they had 10 pennies, they would give 1 to the Lord as Tithing. The Bishop continued on, and Zack looked over at me, with this look (honest to goodness it was) and said: "So, how (small pause) are we going to (small pause) give a penny (small pause) to The Lord?"(all in that "you've got to be kidding me" 5-year-old tone of voice). It was a HOOT! I love this little face he makes. The dude was dead serious.
And then today, during Fast and Testimony meeting, I leaned over to Megan to prompt her to go bear her testimony. I said, "Ask Daddy to go up with you and help you" (yes, I passed the buck). She was considering this and about to ask Roman, when we saw my dad (aka: Grandpa, who we are so lucky to attend the same ward with), walking up to the stand to wait his turn to bear his testimony. I urged Megs to go up and sit with Grandpa and ask him to help her. The girl nearly ran to the stand. There she sat with my dad and I could see them quietly exchanging a few words. The person who was speaking went to sit down and Megan and Grandpa headed up there. Now, you have to know that this was Megan's first time going up. There she was, beaming at the congregation... then she looked at Grandpa for some assistance. He whispered in her ear - she smiled big looked at the congregation, and then back at him... this happened about 4 times, and then she finally started as he prompted her most of the way. Unfortunately, I don't recall all the words she spoke... but THIS I do remember. (Grandpa whispers in her ear), "I love my family" (pause, lean to Grandpa), "And especially my Grandma and Grandpa." And with that the congregation burst into laughter. It was a hoot! Something I never want to forget! My dad later told me that as he was talking to her before hand, he told her "Don't say the church is true, unless you believe it.". Well, with out prompting, during her testimony, she said that she believed the church was true.
What a cute little charming little stinker of a seven year old! Thanks Grandpa.
These are my parents... I love them to pieces and am so grateful for all that they do. I truly hope they know this! I feel lucky to have them as my children's Grandparents! XOXO! They are leaving for their mission in just a few weeks! EEEK! Luckily, they've been gone before, so we know we'll survive with out them... barely.
