Wow - it's been a while!
I've been sick. I've had 3 colds in the past 6 weeks... not baby colds, but full fledged wipe you out colds! I'm sick of being sick! I've been so unmotivated and had the blahs. I'm happy to be coming out of it. The fact that it is the FIRST DAY OF SPRING helps too! I HATE WINTER!
So, my friend Tiffani posted about this on her blog and I'm sooo excited about it!
Have you ever heard of Square Foot Gardening? (Isn't that beautiful!?)
Our yard was fully landscaped by previous owners. All along the fences you'll roses, apple tree's, and long needle pine trees. Yes, I truly hate those long needle pines that make a mess of everything. There are 4 of them in my back yard.
So last year we tried to plant a garden. My father even came over and helped us plant rows of corn! Guess what. It didn't grow. There are so many tree's back there, it didn't get enough SUN! So last fall we plowed the few measly plants down and put a sandbox in the back corner instead.
No garden. :(
Until NOW!
We are going to do this in a sunny location in our back yard. Prior to this, we thought we'd have to dig up landscaping, chop down a tree (or two!), in order to make room for a traditional garden. I think THIS is going to work MUCH better! I'm so excited!
What do you do for a garden? What is your FAVORITE thing to plant? I'm going to try my hand at some herbs. I've NEVER done this before, but I think I'll like it!

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Written by Mama Yo at 1:17 PM
4 peeps sharin the love!:
I loved finding the new blog. We have a garden every year, except last year we didn't because we thought we were going to be moving. Our most favorite thing to plant is tomatoes. David loves zucchini and crook neck squash. We are going to plan our garden this year with canning in mind, so that we can can/freeze as much as possible to build up our food storage. Good luck with your SFG! That picture is so pretty! Post a pic when you have your in. Good luck!
Oh, and I'm right there with ya on the sick stuff. Time to get better already!
Cathy - I can't wait to know how well your garden does this summer. I planted peas and some lettuce. My problem is remembering to water the plants! Good luck. Thanks for keeping in touch.
Hi there!
How are you? I've been away from the blog world for a long time, but thought I'd stop by and see what you're up to.
This gardening idea looks great! I think I must suggest this to my parents too and see if they're interested in trying it. I think it could work well in our garden.
Hope you're having a super weekend!
We love the idea! Ryan's parents do something similar that we've wanted to replicate for awhile. Getting it done is another story altogether! Great picture and great motivation! Happy gardening!
