And they're off!

The verdict? They love it. They are having so much fun! Aaron LOVES 7th grade, lockers, multiple teachers, and the whole bit. I must tell all you young mommies out there this:You think sending them off to Kindergarten is bad? Think again!
I felt as if I was throwing him to the wolves when I sent him out the door Monday morning. The few memories one has of Kindergarten are good, happy times. But who has a fond memory of their first day of Junior High? OK, who has a fond memory of any day of Junior High? I don't!! So he left, and I cried. Yup, I cried. I've never cried when sending my kidelts off to kindergarten. I must be a mean mother. I look forward to them going to Kindergarten. But not this. I was more worried than he was. He wasn't worried at all. He was just plain excited. All morning I worried and I prayed. And as soon as I heard that front door open, I nearly knocked him over as I ran to him to hear the details (he's never quite had such a welcome!). I couldn't wait to hear every little detail. And he shared them with me! He loved it, and is excited about all of his classes and teachers. I felt so much better after hearing about his day. My prayer now is that the "Junior High" attitude doesn't break his spirit and ruin his enthusiasm for learning and for school. He's always loved school and learning... and I hope he can keep that fire alive!

6 peeps sharin the love!:
my oldest was off to middle school this year. Middles school! i had that same feelings as you did and the same reactions. i hate how they have to grow up and face the world.
I love Jr. High so it is possible to not have a horrible experience...although I didn't like elementary much.
Cathy, I loved right out loud at your post of "almost knocking Aaron over." We had similar days thats for sure.
Yes, Karsten never received such a "welcome home" as he did this year also.
I never get over how beautiful your children are.
Man does time fly! I am not looking forward to the day Taylor goes into Junior High or as we call it in the south, "middle school". All I have to say is Roman is going to have his work cut out for him when your girls are teens, because the are gorgeous, absolutely beautiful! Godd luck...
Three down and three to go. They all look so ready and excited for the first day. We are glad that Aaron had such a good experience on his first day. Hopefully that will set a precident for the year. We are so glad that you are sharing all the photos and stories. This really shows us how much of the grandkids we've missed, before the blog, and we're glad we are not missing so much now. This is the next best thing to being there. Oh yeah, it is fun to keep up with you and Roman better too!
I am a new visitor to your blog.. it is really well done! You have a gorgeous family.
In regards to middle school, my 13 year old daughter (firstborn) is in eighth grade this year and she has loved all of her middle school experience. I don't know what they are doing differently than when we were children but I seldom hear about a kid who doesn't like middle school. Most kids thrive on the freedom and excitement of many classes and teachers. The only hard part was letting her "fall" a little so she could learn to be more responsible. It was a necessary thing though and she rose through it with flying colors.
I'm off to read more of your blog!
